CanniBot

Cannibot, RIP,  was my foray into the world of BattleBots. Cannibot was a wedge shaped monster with a pneumatic lifting arm. State of the art welded aluminum frame with 3/8" lexan sides. A work of art in it's own way. It took me six months to build, allot of late nights, cut knuckles and parts and help from a myriad of helpful people and vendors. Just to show you what it takes to field a robot like this.

On to San Francisco; It was a wonderland of robotics. There were all types of teams. They ranged from the guys who came with fully professionally fabricated bots and matching team shirts to the two guy teams who litterally showed up with a box of robot parts and spent two days finishing their creation. The backstage area was constantly a-buzz with saws, grinders and talking. The back stage scene wasreally the pinnacle of the event for me.

I finally found a picture of Cannibot! In the battlebots website in the results area, the battlebots people got it right! I don't know where the picture came from, somebody there must have taken it. Pretty Cool Huh?

Go check it out at http://www.robotcombat.com/bbsf01superheavy.html#

This was kind of cool too...

Final Thoughts: I got my bot kicked in the first round - single elimination. What I learned was that destructive robot competitions are fun to watch on TV until it's your baby getting pummeled in the pen - it's heart wrenching. Ever since, I have had no interest in even watching destructive robot competitions. I do not recommend the sport to the passionate robo-teer.
